Advanced Technical Features

Electrical Traction System:

As compared to other locomotives used in indian Railway, 3-phase locomotives are equipped with several advanced technical features, Including:-

Advanced Technical Features of 3-phase locomotives
  1. Digital Electrics-Based Real- Time Traction Control:
    • 🚀Ensures precise control of traction effort and speed during normal operations.
  2. Electrical Load Transfer System:
    • Automatically reduced traction effort in the leading bogei and increases it in trailing bogei to maintain optimal electrical load distribution.
  3. Anti-slip Protection System:
    • Activates when the ratio of effective traction effort to speed falls below 0.5, thereby preventing wheel slip and avoiding unnecessary brake application.
  4. On-Board Fault Diagnosis System:
    • Enables quick and accurate fault detection, making troubleshooting easir for the loco pilots and maintenance staffs.
  5. Simulated Operation Mode:
    • Allows testing of all locomotive functions without raising the pantograph.
  6. Electro-Active Harmonic Filter Circuit:
    • Minimizes sudden oscillations, voltage surges, and wave distortions within the locomotives electrical system.
  7. Static Auxiliary Converter 3-phase:
    • Suppies power to auxiliary equipment with reduced energy consumption by operating at the required frequency based on traction load conditions.
  8. Electronic Speedometer:
    • Provides paperless speed recording with over-speed waring alerts.
  9. Optimized Traction Motor Munting (Low Traction Bar System):
    • Reduces load transfer effects between bogei and locomotive body by using a fixed traction motor installation.

10.Ergonomically/Conveniently/Comfortably Designed Driving Cab:

Spacious and well – ventilated cab offering enhanced comfort and operational convenience for the loco pilots.

Advanced Technical Features of 3-phase locomotives, Ergonomically/Conveniently/Comfortably Designed Driving Cab:

11. Energy Saver filter: Pressurized dust-exclusion system to protect sensitive equipment in the machine room from airborne contaminants/impurities.

12. Electronic Brake Control System: Facilitates precise and rapid braking effort control.

13. Compact Pneumatic panel: Integrates all pneumatic devices into a single assembly, minimizing pipe clutter and improving maintenance accessibility.

14. Tread/Friction Brake Unit: Designed to reduced operational and maintenance costs.

15. Spring Loaded parking Brake: Replaces tracitional hand brakes. Remains engaged through spring tension, even when air pressure is absent. But now it is being removed.

16. Quick Brake Release via BP Pressure Boost: Temporarily raises brake pipe pressure to 5.4kg/cm2 for rapid brake release, automatically returning to 5.0 kg/cm2 at a controlled rate.

17. Electronically controlled Vigilace System (VCD): Monitors loco pilot attentiveness. Requires the loco pilot to acknowledge the Vigilance Control Device (VCD) at least once every 60 seconds otherwise, an automatice emergency brake appication is triggered.

18. Wheel Flange Lubrication System: Reduces wheel wear and frictional losses, thereby extending wheel life.

19. Heavy-Duty Underframe-maunted Compressor with soft Start Technology: Improves reliability by preventing oil vapour emissions and leakage-common causes of fire hazards in the machine room.
